If you had any hope for Marvel and Disney to finally try to win back the goodwill of their fans, one of the film's lead actors Agatha All Along has confirmed that you can say goodbye to it. WandaVision Joe Locke, who plays Agatha Harkness in the spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn, plays Teen (seriously), who is described as “a lesbian acquaintance with a dark sense of humor who serves as an assistant to Harkness' circle.” It's possible that “Teen” is actually Billy Caplan, a lesbian Young Avengers teammate from the comics who has the superhero name Wiccan, but Locke has referred to the character as “Teen” in interviews, and this is the current MCU, so it's probably just some random person named Teen. Teen was shown in a quick clip from the first part Agatha All Along The trailer that hit first D23You can watch it below to refresh your memory:

So, yes, Teena is gay, and I think everyone already knew that. I don't think anyone had a problem with it; the criticisms I've seen all seem to be about the stupidity of centering the show on Agatha Harkness, who is a side character WandaVision Who, despite being played by Kathryn Hahn, doesn't seem fit to lead her own show. Much of the entertainment Marvel Studios produces these days begs the question, “Did anyone really want this?” and Agatha All Along This is just another example of that. But Disney and Marvel must have heard another bombshell about to explode, so they're doing what they always do and preemptively attacking their fans. An interview with DiversityJoe Locke talks about his role AGATHAAIn doing so, he mocked and insulted Marvel fans:

“I'm fully aware that the Marvel fandom is far less nice than the 'Heartstopper' fandom. There are going to be a lot of people who hate everything about the character and everything I've done with it, and I just have to be okay with that.”

There's suddenly a mischievous gleam in his eyes. “Marvel fans are very open about their opinions. But they're not in the Marvel shows, so—” He blows a raspberry. “I'm doing the same thing they really want to do. Sorry!”

Is this Joe Locke speaking off the top of his head, or is the Disney brand once again painting its fans as evil fanatics in order to target itself and its failing product with harassment? If Locke was the only person saying this, or one of two or three, I'd say it's probably just him, but this has been the company's practice for years. Look at the way it's being said She-Hulk The cast and writers upset Marvel fans, with the head writer (but not the “show runner,” because Marvel didn’t have them. (until about a month ago) Jessica Gao made him the villain of his own seriesLikewise, Taika Waititi heavily interjected that embarrassingly bad “It's Mighty Thor!” scream from Natalie Portman Thor: Love and Thunder (which is fair, since that was an embarrassingly bad movie) to chide fans for calling her “Lady Thor,” apparently not caring that Thor has been called “The Mighty Thor” since his first appearance in Marvel Comics. It's hard to believe that fans feel like their favorite characters are being disrespected.

To be completely fair, Joe Locke comes across as a stern hall monitor. Diversity Kathryn Hahn said they described her character as a witch, and Locke corrected her by saying that she and all the women in the cast were witches. Can you imagine having to work with someone like that every day? Still, Marvel is now at the point where they need to stop losing, and while deadpool and wolverine While that's certainly a lifesaver, they're still not out of the woods. Disney+ is still not solvent, and Agatha All Along Maybe it won't help. Under such circumstances, I don't think they would let an actor go off script in front of the media like that. However, that doesn't mean it's a good strategy. Stories – Joe Started with Chris Gore – Says Marvel is abandoning its Voq experiment, though it still has to release a useless next series before we see any solid evidence of that. But I think they'll stop annoying their fans like that, even if their next few projects fail. Complacency is a habit that's hard to break.
