The Thing Revealed in Leaked Fantastic Four Set VideoThe Thing Revealed in Leaked Fantastic Four Set Video

The Fantastic Four are coming together, and thanks to a video from the set of their upcoming MCU debut film, we've got a first look at the ever-lovable blue-eyed Thing. The Fantastic Four: The First StepCurrently shooting at London's famous Pinewood Studios, The Thing aka Ben Grimm is played by Ebon-Moss Bacharach and it was widely believed he would be a CGI character, perhaps created via motion capture technology like the Hulk, Thanos and other fictional Marvel monsters. But this video shows crew members putting a rubber mask – and it's quite detailed – on someone who could either be Bacharach or a stuntman, if this day's scheduled scene takes place during clobberin' time. You can check out the video below, courtesy of X Account Fantastic Four Update,

I have to say, I like it. The look is perfect, with the rocking eyebrows, which I don't think any other live-action version of the character has used. And I'm glad they're at least using a real costume for the performance. I imagine there will be at least a little bit of digital tomfoolery in the finished film; there may be some motion capture around the rubber masks. But this detail will likely make it a little more realistic, giving us something tangible underneath the computer graphics. It'll also be a relief for Ebon Moss-Bachrach – not in terms of her comfort (it does get hot under those costumes), but because she has something practical to play with, a frame of reference CGI often doesn't afford actors. I don't know where this scene takes place, but it's being filmed on a real set, not a green screen or digital environment, which must be a plus for her as well. And that's great; This means the movie will look as realistic as possible, and will hopefully be a departure from the horrific special effects of some of the past Marvel movies and TV shows.

It's nice to get a shot of hopium for this movie. I really want to make love The Fantastic Four: The First StepAnd the news about the film has been both good and bad, depending on the subject. I'm not very familiar with Ebon-Moss Bacharach; I only remember them from that the Punisherwhere he played a very lean version of Frank Castle's tech assistant Micro Chip in the comics. Apparently he was also in a couple of other things I've seen – the HBO miniseries John Adams and possibly my favorite Wes Anderson movie, The Royal Tenenbaums – but I don't remember him from either. Physically, he doesn't look like Ben Grimm, who is usually depicted as a scrawny, obese man, a stark contrast to his thinner and more shapely best friend, Reed Richards, and his hot-rodding young rival, Johnny Storm. (Michael Chiklis was actually a great choice from a physical perspective in those two Tim Story FF movies.) Of course, once he becomes the Thing, it doesn't matter as much because he's a walking mound of orange stone, so it's more about getting his physicality right. But that video is more than enough to make me eager to give him a shot.

In fact, that video is so great that I wonder if Marvel had a hand in releasing it. The Fantastic Four: The First Step The trailer has been released so far, which Comic-Con Exclusive. (Gary and Chris Gore from Nerdrotic Most liked thisHowever.) In addition, there are also Poster (which were Very good) And That Photo taken from D23Which was a waste. Releasing this is great press for the film, maintaining much of the secrecy Marvel surely wanted while showing people something positive. If the Marvel marketing department is responsible for this, they deserve a raise. Now, Matt Shakman, the writers, and the artists need to knock this out of the park; I don't know if they will, and I doubt it, but I'm excited for them.
