Midnight Sun, a Twilight animated series, is coming to Netflix
In early 2023, it was reported that Lionsgate Television was working on a TV show based on Stephenie Meyer's midnight Sun2020 recap evening from Edward's point of view. In March 2024, Lionsgate vice president Michael Burns announced that it would be an animated series. Re-contextualizing a popular book is nothing new, Meyer wrote Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined in 2015. In that book, the genders of the main characters Bella and Edward were changed, while midnight Sun It tells the original story from Edward's perspective rather than Bella's. Diversity Reports The series, which will be released on Netflix, will be written and executive produced by Sinead Daly (raised by wolves, tell me lies, get down) Stephenie Meyer will also serve as executive producer, along with Meghan Hibbert for Fickle Fish Films, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen for Temple Hill Entertainment, Erik Feig and Sammy Kim Falvey for Picturestart, with Picturestart's Emily Wissink helming the show. Well, I don't like it eveningSo naturally, I can’t claim any enthusiasm. midnight SunI love animation, and Netflix has a lot of surprisingly good animated shows, but I just can't seem to move beyond the source material. I think it's silly; I know. Star Wars And the other stuff I like is silly too, but I couldn't get behind the vampire-werewolf love triangle. I don't usually like romance or stories set in high school, so evening It was never for me.
However, isn’t it a bit late? evening It was huge when I was in middle and high school, but I haven't heard from anyone about it in years. Is the fan base really still demanding? Will this fan base be interested in an animated show? evening Do fans love the reimagined books enough to justify a TV series? There are a lot of variables here, and I can admit that the folks at Netflix probably know more about this than I do. I don't like it, though eveningI think, looking back, that the reaction it got was exaggerated. Anything that becomes very popular attracts a group of haters just as much as its fan base, for whatever reason. But now, I think most of us realize that calling a book/movie that wasn't very good sexist or offensive was a bit much. I wonder if the coming of this series has more to do with reevaluation evening More important than its actual popularity as a masterpiece.
All of this is to say, I really don't know. I don't know who it would be like these days, fifteen years after the craze began and after it ended. I'd love to hear from the fans evening to see what that perspective would look like. Not everything is for everyone, and I'm sure this show will have its fans. I think Netflix could have taken better advantage of this cash cow a few years ago. It's also worth noting that Robert Pattinson didn't like the movies and likely won't return to voice Edward. midnight Sun.The show's producers would probably be wise to go in a completely different direction with this adaptation.
