Daisy Ridley on Rey's return in Star Wars: There are rumors the film won't happen

daisy ridley Recently Interviewed By French film publication Premiere.he told Premiere (via Star Wars News Net) that he was given a concept for Rey's return Star Wars rather than a complete treatment or script for the film. However, she comes to Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's defence New Jedi Order Calling the film “a story that deserves to be told”:

“They simply asked if I wanted to do it, based on an idea, without writing a script. But if I wasn't convinced by the concept, the film wouldn't be made. I took a day to think about it and I told myself that I had so much fun making those films. This new adventure sounded fun to me, so why say no? My thoughts on the subject are quite simple: if I don't think the story is worth telling, I don't come back.”

Tentatively titled As We Know It New Jedi Order It will be after fifteen years The Rise of Skywalker and follow Rey as she rebuilds the Jedi Order. Ridley noted fans' interest in this stage of Rey's life:

“In the same week I had two people tell me they would like to know what Rey is doing next. I had no idea people were so interested! People really like Rey. I think this new movie will be exciting and take the franchise forward in an interesting way.”

Next, Ridley discussed what changes playing Rey will bring now that she has more experience:

“Time goes by and things calm down. Now I have more perspective on it all, I know how it all works. So it's definitely easier to manage… I'm also in a very different position: when I did the first one I was 21, now I'm 32 and I have a lot more experience on set. It's really exciting to imagine how my current life will affect the character.”

I don't like Ray or him Star Wars sequels, so I'm not excited about any of this. But I also have no ill will towards Daisy Ridley or any of the actors, really; they were just doing their jobs. The fault lies with Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams, Rian Johnson and everyone else who worked on the scripts for the sequel trilogy. I'm not looking forward to it New Jedi Order I don't think it's a good or necessary idea, but I don't fault Daisy Ridley for being excited.

However, the real issue is whether or not this movie will ever be made and released. Lucasfilm is infamous for announcing projects without any action, especially movies. The Rise of Skywalker was the last Star Wars movie in theaters, and that was five years ago in 2019. Rogue SquadronKevin Feige's movie, Taika Waititi's film, and Rian Johnson's trilogy have all been in development hell or canceled altogether in recent years. I honestly wish that happened to me New Jedi OrderNot out of malice towards Daisy Ridley and Rey, but because I didn't like these movies and characters. And there's a rumor from scooper Daniel RPK (via That park location) suggesting that the script for New Jedi Order “needs more work” and that the film is “on hold” and won't begin shooting until next year; many feel this is a sign that it will be scrapped, which would be for the best. I would like to see this era end and see Lucasfilm tell different stories in a different time period. Beyond my preferences, most fans didn't like the sequels, and there doesn't seem to be a huge fan base for them among “normal people”. So, I really think the market for this film is small, no matter how I personally feel. The only reason the Rey movie is made is to stroke Kathleen's ego.
