It’s been a little over a month since we moved into our Main Cape home and we feel right at home! To be honest, the first few weeks I was completely exhausted and the thought of decorating, laying down rugs, or hanging art felt like a chore. But around the third week I had a burst of energy and happily filled my living room with books, lamps, flowers and knick-knacks. Which definitely made our house feel even more…like home!

I mentioned that we wanted to be more intentional about leaving space in our lives outside of projects and I think we have a really good balance right now. We’ve accomplished a lot in the month we’ve been here, but we’ve also hiked, explored islands, and enjoyed the outdoors just as much…if not more!

The first project we checked off our list was painting the main living areas Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore. While painting the wood window trim was a slightly controversial choice, I couldn’t be more thrilled with it! For a long time we debated between painting both the trim and windows white or leaving all the wood and ultimately for me it was right, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. We can compromise by simply trimming the wood and painting the windows. Plus, the trim is what graces the house the most and the warmth of the wood windows is what we love. This is exactly the middle path.

As far as outside work goes, we started cleaning up the property, removing unwanted plants from the front of our house, tearing down our front door ramp, and washing down the roof and siding. Next up, we’re painting the siding, replacing the front door, replacing some damaged siding boards, planting new plants (I hope!) and installing new exterior lights. Those changes are going to make such a big impact!
