Max Harry Potter series casting announced
Max has announced an early casting call for the upcoming film harry potter The series is scheduled to air in 2026. according to DiversityChildren who will be nine to eleven years old in April 2025 are eligible and must be UK residents. The call also states that they “Committed to inclusive, diverse casting.” These words resonate with groans from most fans today. If that's what we expect from this show Cursed ChildIt might smell of DEI.
“We are committed to inclusive, diverse casting… Please submit qualified actors for each role, without consideration of ethnicity, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis protected by law, unless otherwise specifically indicated.”
The application also requires actors to submit a short video of a “poem, monologue or something you've created”, but harry potter permitted in the presentation.
“Please prepare a short poem or story of your choice. It can be from your favorite book, your favorite poem, a monologue from a play, or something you made up yourself. Please, no anything from 'Harry Potter.' Please use your own accent. 30 seconds maximum!” the casting call states, and the second self-tape is “a short video in which we will tell you a little about you, including your birth date, height, and where you live. Also, please tell us about a family member, friend, or pet you are particularly attached to. Please use your own accent. One minute maximum.”
The cut-off date for this casting call is October 31, and the series will be filmed in the United Kingdom during 2025-2026. No official release date has been announced, yet Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is firm on a 2026 release.

Based on the wording of this casting call, there is certainly cause for concern. It seems some fans remain hopeful, while others (such as myself) have no hope at all for a completely faithful adaptation of this beloved IP. Who can blame most fans, though? In modern-day Hollywood, true talent is sorely lacking, especially in writing anything original; therefore, they must always go back to established works and completely rewrite them “for modern audiences.”
