Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Trailer Casts a Dark ShadowSonic the Hedgehog 3 Trailer Casts a Dark Shadow

The super-fast rodents are piling in. Today, Sega and Paramount Pictures released a trailer Sonic The Hedgehog 3The latest installment in a surprisingly successful video game adaptation series. (I say “surprisingly” because when First Sonic the Hedgehog film When movies based on video games arrived, they weren't reliable box office sensations; we're seeing a post-Super Mario Bros. Movie era now.) This time around, Sonic and Tails – and their human friend who looks like a cyclops – must team up with Knuckles to face Shadow, a dark hedgehog speedster who escapes from confinement in a government facility and wreaks havoc on an unsuspecting world. When Shadow proves too powerful for the trio to defeat, they seek help from an unexpected ally… Sonic's archenemy, Dr. Robotnik. Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of Sonic, with Colleen O'Shaughnessy as Tails (whom he also voices in the video games), Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as ShadowSpeaking of the human aspect, James Marsden once again plays Tom Wachowski, Sonic's human friend, while Jim Carrey returns as Dr. Robotnik. Directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller and John Whittington, as were the other two (though Whittington was not the writer of the first one), Sonic The Hedgehog 3 It will hit theaters on December 20, 2024. I haven't seen another one Sonic the Hedgehog Films (though written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller) Violent Night, which I like very muchSo I'll probably at least give the first one a chance), so most of my impressions are going to be based on this one Sonic The Hedgehog 3 trailer. I'm really impressed with the voice acting; if I didn't already know, I would never have realized they were Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Keanu Reeves. Usually, celebrities' voices sound like them, but these guys are putting effort into making their characters feel real, which I appreciate. This is especially true for Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves, who are bigger names than Ben Schwartz; they could have easily moved on from their recognizable voices, but they don't. Schwartz is someone I've seen in many smaller roles, and the thought of casting him as Sonic would never have crossed my mind, but it makes a lot of sense; his voice is raspy enough to be appropriate for a cartoon character, but not so much that it makes Tails redundant. (I remember the animated Sonic being voiced by Jaleel “Urkel” White in two different cartoons in the '90s, one broadly comic, the other more serious and action-based.) As far as the humans go, James Marsden doesn't do much in the movie. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 The trailer shows Jim Carrey doing his usual style rather than playing Dr. Robotnik (though I'd be lying if I said he didn't make me laugh once or twice).

the idea of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 It sounds interesting, and I like that they're introducing new elements and characters from the games with each movie, particularly Sonic's opponents. the second one Knuckles was brought in, and Shadow is in this movie. They even seem to go out of their way to make Shadow a legitimate threat to Sonic, allowing him to dominate all three good guys in that fight shown in the trailer. Movies seem to have increasingly forgotten how to make fearsome villains – perhaps it's a result of Disney's ownership of everything, although their classic movies did have some effective villains – so it's a relief whenever someone becomes a real obstacle to the hero. Shadow didn't appear in 2014 Sonic the Hedgehog I stopped playing the games a long time ago, so I don't know his character very well, but my understanding is that he's not a villain but an antihero, which suggests that someone else will be the real antagonist – probably Dr. Robotnik again, teaming up with his father to destroy the little wildlife that haunts him forever. It's also funny how they're slowly making the usually skinny Jim Carrey more physically aligned with his chubby video game counterpart, even if only slightly. People seem to like these movies, so I'm hoping the third movie will be as good as the last two.
